五常市是全国最大的水稻面积超百万亩的县市之一，素有张广才岭下水稻王国之美誉，而五常市域内最好品质的大米产在五常市安家镇，五常市绿野有机水稻种植合作社就坐落在安家镇铁西村。是优质五常大米的中心产区，总面积12000亩，合作社共有水田面积9500亩，年生产稻花香水稻950万斤，分别与农户签订了生产收购合同，按照公司+合作社+农户、合作社+农户两种管理模式，实行产、加、销一条龙，贸工农一体化的紧密型水稻生产加工销售联合体，逐步推行产业化经营，通过合同、订单实现合作社全体社员利益挂钩，互惠互利，保证社员实现有限耕地利益最大化。
合作社所处的独特地理位置，在日照、积温、天然拉林河水、肥沃的黑土地、高超的栽培技术、科学的管理方法、优良的品质等多种因素影响，使得本区域内的大米干物质积累多，直链淀粉含量适中，支链淀粉含量较高，由于水稻成熟期的昼夜温差大，大米中可速溶的双链糖 积累较多，对人体健康非常有益。因此大米品味清淡略甜绵软略粘，芳香爽口，饭粒油光艳丽，香味浓郁，是百姓餐桌上的佳品。素有“贡米”之称，曾为十六大供应的优质大米就是产自此区域。产品远销北京、南京、上海、济南、郑州、成都、大连、青岛等几十个城市。
合作社拥有中型大米精加工厂一个，年加工销售水稻1.2万吨，有育秧机、奔野拖拉机、插秧机、收割机等大型机械35台套。由于生产全程采用机械作业，减轻了劳动强度，降低了生产成本，提高了经济效益。
